New Specialist Lecture Series Kicks Off

17 Aug 2025
Elide AmbrosettiAssociazione, Attività, Informazioni, Iniziative, Volontari

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new series of advanced online medical lectures, aimed at the resident and specialist doctors of our hospital. The program focuses on key topics in cardiology and pulmonary medicine, with the goal of strengthening local clinical expertise and promoting high-quality continuing education.

The first lecture took place on July 25, 2025, and covered a highly relevant but often overlooked topic: Diagnosis and Treatment of Post-Tuberculosis Disease.
The speaker was Dr. Juan Pablo Reig, from the University of Valencia (Spain), an expert in respiratory diseases and global health — and recently recognized as one of the top-rated health professionals in Spain during the 11th edition of the Doctoralia Awards.

His presentation addressed clinical and diagnostic approaches to managing the long-term complications of tuberculosis, with a focus on real-world cases relevant to the Tanzanian context.

For those interested, the slides and lecture recording are freely available.

This initiative is made possible thanks to the generous collaboration of European doctors and professors, who volunteer their time and expertise to support the professional development of the Ikonda medical team. Their contribution reflects a shared commitment to clinical excellence and equitable access to up-to-date medical knowledge.

The next sessions will take place on August 22 and September 25.
Further details on topics and speakers will be shared soon.
